"Banana" George Blair plays the drums on his 93rd birthday Tuesday at his home in Winter Haven. The famed barefoot water skier is sidelined lately because of a fall and getting the flu.
There was no barefoot water skiing on Lake Florence behind the yellow-painted home in Winter Haven. The bright yellow boat in the yellow boathouse remained dry.
Blair, who has skied on seven continents, may never ski again.
Blair, one of the most popular and widely recognized water skiers in the world, was recuperating with a home health care nurse and waiting on a physical therapist on his birthday.
