Southern Glass a Total Success
|
Joe Pressendo and his family hosted the first Southern Glass tournament yesterday and it was amazing. The facilities were first class, food was great, we had a live video feed on shore, spectators (great marketing Al and Joe), and of course ‘Glass” water.
Not many will know the amount of work it took to get the facilities ready for the weekend, but it was overwhelming. Joe and his family not only worked their butt off, but all of Pressendo members skied great. Lisa Pressendo tricked a pending national record and tied the national record in wakes. Many thanks to the Pressendo Family for a wonderful weekend.
Officials. Special thanks go to Dale Stevens who was at the site at 6:30 am with clipboard ready to judge! Not only was he one of the first to arrive, he judged every skier for the entire day, and he was one of the last to leave. I really concerns me that we push our Senior Officials so hard to provide the platform for us to have fun (can’t be that much fun to sit in a boat all day and not ski).
I’m asking each of you that score, judge, drive, and safety to continue to work hard, attend clinics when they are available, and take your online and practical exams as soon as possible. If we don’t upgrade officials soon, we’ll burn out the few we have.
We need to thank Char Portman, she’s another first to arrive, work all day, and last to leave official. Thanks Char for attending every tournament as Safety Director, without you, none of this would be possible.
We had two news skiers; Al Hager’s son Ben and Brad Henderson (Brad is a former National Champion that has not skied a tournament since 1986, and he just kicked butt)! Welcome Ben and it's great to see a personal ski buddy of mine back after 22 years absence!
The Godfrey family (Dwayne, Kimberly, and Travis) flew down from Canada and Chris Wakefield few in Saturday morning from Atlanta and left at 2 pm for a return flight in his attempt to qualify for Worlds!
Two skiers received World qualifying Trick scores, so they’ll be representing the USA in New Zealand – Mike Holt with a score of 2680 and Chris Wakefield with 2610 (qualifying score is 2550).
The next tournament is Holtzy Invitation - Saturday July 12 and there is limited space remaining:
