Holtzy Invitation Results – WOW
|
Again this year, this tournament exceeded our expectations... The water was glass for the entire day, I mean glass. World Records, National Records, and Personals Bests were broken, plus one skier qualified to ski at the next World Championships in Germany. The day began perfectly and ended just that way; let me list the accomplishments in alphabetical order:
•AJ Porecca – PB slalom 14.6
•Al Hager – PM trick 810 (Al is two time National Champion)
•Brad Henderson –National Record (pending) in Wakes 12.5 for the third tournament in a row!
•Dwayne Ergle – Tied his PB slalom
•Jim Boyette – Tied his PB in slalom
•Joe Pressendo – Qualifies to ski the World Championships in Germany for the USA in Senior Mens Tricks. Note: Lisa and John Pressendo skied NZ 2009, which mean that ‘father,’ ‘son, ‘ and ‘daughter’ will be skiing Germany 2010. I’m not sure if there has ever been such a combination at a World Championships before; congratulations Pressendo’s!
•John Pressendo - PB tricks 3710
•Kay Wiser – PM tricks 1770, PB slalom 6.6
•Keith St. Onge –World Record (pending) with a trick score of 12,550. Current record 10,950 held by David Small.
•Matt Ellis – PB tricks 810, and PB slalom 9.6
•Mike Holt –National Record (pending) in Tricks 2,700 points and skies a 14.8 for the second tournament in a row!
•Tim Collette – PM slalom 9.6
•Todd Carter – PB slalom 12.3
As the tournament director, I would like to personally thank Mike Salber for working his butt off for two days. He set the jump course by himself and removed it with not much help (after the jump event in Regional’s, please let’s give Mike a break and help him). Mike also drove the boat and he didn’t complain about anything, even though I found out late last night from my wife that he was in a lot of pain for most of the day. Mike thank you for always being there to help me help the Southern Region.
I could go on and name more names, like the Pressendo family, that help us have a great time, but the list would just go on and on. I would like to thank Tom Gabey for driving down from Atlanta, GA to be our Chief Judge so that this tournament qualified to allow skiers to set World and National records (which they did). As many know, just 4 weeks ago Tom had major surgery on his neck from backward falls, and he still came down to help us out.
Char, you have ALWAYS been there to help the Southern Region and few understand the responsibility as our Safety Director and NO tournament can be run without a safety. Thank you for blessing us with your efforts, I really appreciate it.
Thanks go to all those that helped me this weekend and I’m asking for more help from those that have not stepped up to the plate at Regional’s.
REGIONALS
Registration deadline for Regional’s is Saturday July 18th and you must register online and by that date to avoid donating $20 to the USA World Barefoot Team.
Will I really charge you $20 if you are late? Ask Keith St. Onge if he paid a late fee for Holtzy this weekend. Kind of ironic, Keith donates $20 to the USA Barefoot team, which he’s a member of…
So please visit http://www.barefootwater-ski.com/index.php right now and get registered; you can pay the entry fee when you get to the site.
I’m really working hard and spending lots of time organizing barefooting in the Southern Region - I really don’t want to get burned. Please register for Regional’s right way, offer to help so that the burden can be spread out.
P.S. It was great to see Brian Heatherington (thank for the judging), Bob LaRue, and the Moose for visiting with us, even though they were injured or ill.
